The primary focus of the 5G Innovation Centre at the University of Surrey is on end-to-end 5G (and beyond) networks. We develop the 5G core as per 3GPP standards and deploy the latest version in our campus-wide operational mobile network testbed. We also develop network virtualisation (NFV & SDN) and management and orchestration (MANO) systems. We integrate them with open-source platforms to demonstrate the latest technologies and to conduct experimental research in our testbed.
We develop P4 solutions for the data plane in mobile networks. The programmability offered by P4 helps us develop new protocols and enhance mobile data plane performance.
